Who is it for?
Our Health and Safety in the Workplace course will give you the knowledge you need to carry out risk assessments and to identify and control the risks from common workplace hazards.
Unit 1: Roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare at work
In this section, your learners will develop their understanding of employers’ and employees’ duties relating to health, safety and welfare. They will cover the requirements for training and competence in the workplace and how to effectively communicate health and safety information.
Unit 2: How risk assessments contribute to health and safety
Your learners will cover the meaning of the terms ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’, how risk assessments are carried out and how they contribute to a reduction in workplace accidents and ill health.
Unit 3: Identifying and controlling risks from common workplace hazards
This module will enable your learners to identify hazards in the workplace, understand how hazards can cause harm or damage and learn the risk controls for common hazards.
Unit 4: Procedures for responding to accidents and incidents at work
In this section, your learners will cover the common causes of workplace accidents and ill health, the actions to take following an incident at work and the importance of recording incidents, accidents and ill health accurately.

Assessments are a great way of checking your progress allowing you to apply your learning to real-world situations. Through the course you will be assessed by a series of written assignments, which are assessed as you complete via our learner platform.
All assignments are set by The Learning College. Upon verification of the activities, exercises and assignments, a certificate of achievement will be awarded, as confirmation that your written work has met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the course thus passing your recognised qualification in full.
Please note: There is no examination required for this course.
You will have access to a Tutor, via email & telephone, whom will be guiding and supporting your study. You will also be provided with all course materials via our learner platform in order to complete your course.
The guided study hours to complete your Health and Safety in the Workplace course is 2 hours. You should allow enough time to complete assignments/ question papers to ensure satisfactory outcomes are met.
